Pretty much how I felt when the Leave vote got the majority here. I'm now back to wanting to make the best of it, though, given that the people fooled into voting against EU membership still have families who'll be worse off under austerity-based coping mechanisms.
In the case of the US Democrats, though, realpolitik has happened. Sanders may not be the nominee, but he's negotiated some policy concessions from Hilary in return for his support -- potentially some quite radical ones. Who knows, they might even benefit the general populace sufficiently that they get a taste for proper social democratic politics. :) Either way, it's the sort of mature politics Dex was talking about the other day.
it's certainly a more positive development than what's currently happening to our most prominent left-wing politician: . I personally think he's been pretty ineffective as leader of HM Loyal Opposition, but this isn't particularly democratic, given that he was elected a year ago on a mandate from 60% of party members.
