Maslow even talks about the two kinds of happiness and the highest levels of transcendent needs correspond with the realm of Bodhisattva and Buddha.

That's one of the things I think is so cool about it - alot of it is really practical, real-world advice for living a happy life, just expressed spiritually.

This explains why there's so much emphasis on attaining enlightenment through the path of the Bodhisattva: by focusing your efforts on helping others it puts you firmly on the path to fulfilling your highest transcendental needs.

What's also cool is alot of buddhist stuff lines up pretty closely with many aspects of Jungian psychology. I've heard Buddhists call Jung a "buddhist without knowing it".
