Someone in the Texas Department of Education was really dumb and approved my application for a reinstatement of my teaching license. I am a teacher once more and already got a position teaching 5th grade Language Arts.

;) Forgive me, couldn't resist! Congrats on the re-accreditation and new job. I must also beg forgiveness for my ignorance -- what are "language arts", exactly? Are they the equivalent of English literature?

We call it language arts in Canada too. It's English literature. I don't know why it's called language arts when its only topic is English.

Being moved to a seventh-grade class next year. I am rather surprised, I figured it would be at least two years before I was able to move to a different grade. It was great news indeed, I even managed to get my booklist approved:

Atlus Shrugged
Starship Troopers
Out of the Silent Planet
The Giver

Luckily only Atlus Shrugged and Out of the Silent Planet need to be ordered (120 copies, wow!) as The Giver and Starship Troopers were already in the book storage.

Atlus Shrugged is a boring book. Why would you want seventh graders to read that rag?
