Hillary really likes to harp on "vote for me because I'm a woman" and I feel like it's improper for her to personally say that. Other people can say that about you, you can't say that about yourself, it's just not classy.

No, I don't think so. Even at its simplest, it's the difference between, "I like apples because they're tasty," and, "I like apples because they contain fibre, vitamins, give me an energy boost, and they're tasty as well."

Yeah, except you know you can't say you like apples because they're tasty, so you say something to approximate it.

Remember, she's a professional politician. Everything she says is carefully planned and curated to maximize her appeal.

Like when she (no doubt purposefully) made that gaff about Nancy Reagan starting a national conversation on AIDS. There is no way in hell that was an actual mistake - she chose to make that gaff to appeal to people who liked the Reagans and she knew that her supporters would forgive her after she apologized.

But the Reagan supporters would remember the statement, and not the apology.

Similarly, she keeps harping on her gender. She knows she can't come right out and say it, so she talks around it, over and over and over again.
