One time in an interview Isaac Asimov was asked about science fiction's role in making predictions. He pointed out that there was a lot of science fiction written about what the first moon landing would be like, and how many authors had predicted television and how it would be used, but not once had anyone ever imagined that in reality the first moon landing would be televised.
