I was reminded of you today!

Our office received some of the ubiquitous care packages that get shipped out to troops around the world. We opened them to find, included amongst the cookies and jerky, a whole parcel of Libertarianism propaganda bullshit. It was great! Multiple copies of "Atlas Shrugged", pamphlets about how to get in on the Bitcoin revolution, and a letter promising that folks were fighting to "end this" and we shouldn't re-enlist.

(Maybe it was supposed to be intended for Iraqistan or one of those places, but if they can end China's nonsense, they're more than welcome to try.)
Our reaction was to eat the treats and laugh at their stupidity in trying for blatant agenda shilling.

American-Style Libertarianism is a radicalized Liberal, pro-capitalist, pro-private property, anti-communist ideology.

The confusion comes from the fact that everywhere else in the world "libertarian" is another word for "anarchist", but in America, during the 1950's Murray Rothbard along with Ayn Rand, Ludwig Von Mises, Milton Friedman, and F.A. Hayek took anarchist language and directed it towards "The Government" rather than "The State".

Anarchists are anti-State and somewhat ambivalent towards government.

Libertarians are PRO-State and anti-government.

We're alike in temperament, but we're pretty much opposites in every other way.
